I work in research security and compliance, writing the System Security Plans, control narratives, and audit evidence that let research environments handle Controlled Unclassified Information without falling apart under assessment. Most days run on NIST 800-171 control families, RACI matrices, and the kind of documentation that only gets noticed when it's missing.
Same controls, smaller rack
The lab runs on a UniFi UDR7, a Cisco Catalyst 3850, and a Proxmox box that hosts everything from SIEM sandboxes to deliberately vulnerable VMs. It's the same access control, audit logging, and boundary protection I write policy for at work — except here, I get to be the adversary too.
Tamper-resistance, analog edition
Outside the rack, the same obsession goes analog. Daily carry starts with a Benchmade 940, currently on trial against a Spyderco Smock and a PM2 for the spot in my pocket. Different steels, same question: what actually holds up under use.
